This is a brief description of the case study which is about a river restoration project initiated in response to poor water quality (and general degradation) in the Besòs River in Catalonia. Industrial pollution and waste were seen as the cause of water quality issues. Furthermore, freshwater extraction resulted in low flows. The river system also experiences flooding, due to heavy rainfall events. These concerns were addressed by a large-scale river restoration project that began in 1996. To develop a comprehensive understanding of the case study, the NATWiP Framework was applied, and data were gathered from a variety of sources.
